Aged Resident Passes Away

Mr. Willem Vander Linden, 81, died at his home Friday morning, August 4, following an illness of three months.


Mr. Vander Linden was born in Spijkkenisse, Netherlands, on July 18, 1858.

He was married on Oct 13, 1882 at Spijkkenisse to Johanna Berkhoudt, nine children were bom to them.

He and his family came to America some 26 years ago settling on a farm south of Hull, Iowa. The past 10 years he had resided in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Surviving are the widow and children: (Hendrika) Mrs. Wm. Gorzeman of Boyden, Iowa, Jacob of Rock Valley, Ia., (Maartje) Mrs. Peter Van Bodegoom, Simon and Jacobus, all of Spijkkenisse, Netherlands, Lane of Sioux Center, Ia., (Annie) Mrs. John Landegent of Rock Valley, Iowa, William of Ireton, la., and Dick of Sioux Center, la. He also leaves 41 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday August 7, 1939, at 1:30 p.m. from the residence and at 2:00 p.m., from the First Reformed Church. The Reverend Mr. L.A. Brunsting officiated Burial was in the Sioux Center cemetery.

His general health had been good until recently. He was blessed with a rugged constitution.
